How to Book, Update or Cancel MVPI (Fahas) Appointment?

In Saudi Arabia, ensuring the safety of vehicles on the road is a top priority.

The Motor Vehicle Periodic Inspection (MVPI), commonly known as Fahas, plays a crucial role in achieving this objective.

Yearly inspections help identify and rectify potential vehicle defects, thereby minimizing the risk of accidents and promoting road safety.

Recently my MVPI was about to expire, I have to go-through the process and found out that to facilitate the Fahas process, the Saudi government has introduced a user-friendly online booking system, allowing us (vehicle owners) to schedule their inspections conveniently.

Additionally, a lot of options are available as well, like cancelling or updating existing appointments.

So, I thought to guide you through the step-by-step procedures for booking, cancelling, and updating Fahas appointments, let’s dive!

Book MVPI / Fahas Appointment Online

1. Visit the MVPI Booking Platform

  • The first step to booking your MVPI appointment is to visit the official booking platform: https://vi.vsafety.sa/en.
  • You can access this platform using a web browser on your computer or smartphone.
    • In my case, I’m using web browser.

2. Click on Book Appointment

  • Now click on book appointment’s green button which can be located in the right bottom of the page, as shown in the image above.

3. Enter your Personal Information

  • Enter your Name, Mobile Number and Email (Optional) in the personal information section on the following page.
    • Note: There is option to authorize someone else to do the Fahas on your behalf, if you’ll click that, you need to enter his / her information as well.

4. Enter your Vehicle Information

  • Once you’re done with the personal information, you need to enter vehicle information.
  • Select License Status, either the vehicle is registered or not.
  • Select Registration Country, Plate Number, Registration Type.

5. Select Service Center

  • Select Vehicle Type, I selected Private as it’s my personal vehicle.
  • Select “The Periodic Inspection Service” from Inspection Service Type as we are going for the first time, not for the re-inspection.
  • Select Region.
  • Now you need to select service center according to your preference.
    • For example, it should be nearby your home.

6. Select Inspection Time and Date

  • Now, select your preffered inspection date and inspection time.
  • Click on I’m not a Robot to verify captcha code and Click Next.

7. Enter OTP Verification

  • Once you clicked the next button, you’ll be shown with a pop-up.
  • Enter the OTP you recieved in your mobile number and click confirm.

8. Appointment Booked

  • Your appointment has been booked successfully.
    • You can see in the image, your booking reference and QR code will be shown.
    • Also you’ll receive an SMS.
  • Now head over to do the Fahas of your vehicle.

Update MVPI / Fahas Appointment Online

1. Visit the MVPI Platform to Edit Appointment

  • The first step to edit your Fahas appointment is to visit the official booking platform: https://vi.vsafety.sa/en.
  • Now click on Edit Appointment.

2. Enter Booking Reference and Mobile Number

  • Enter your Appointment Reference
  • Enter your Mobile Number
  • Click on I’m not a Robot to verify captcha code.
  • Finally, Click Next.

3. Enter Verification Code

  • You’ll receive an SMS that will have your OTP.
  • Enter OTP and click on Confirm.

4. Edit your Appointment

  • On the following page, you can edit your appointment.
  • Like, you can authorize someone on your behalf to do the Fahas.
  • Or you can edit service center location.
  • Also, you can edit Time and Date.

5. Click Next to Finish your Edit

  • Once you have carefully verified the information.
  • Click “Next” button and you’ll receive the booking reference number and QR code.

Cancel MVPI / Fahas Appointment Online

1. Visit the MVPI Platform to Cancel Appointment

  • The first step to cancel your MVPI appointment is to visit the official MVPI booking platform: https://vi.vsafety.sa/en.
  • Now click on Edit Appointment.

2. Enter Booking Reference and Mobile Number

  • Enter your Appointment Reference.
  • Enter your Mobile Number.
  • Click on I’m not a Robot to verify captcha code.
  • Finally, Click Next.

3. Enter Verification Code

  • You’ll receive an SMS that will have your OTP.
  • Enter OTP and click on Confirm.

4. You appointment has been Cancelled successfully

  • Your appointment will be cancelled successfully.
  • You’ll receive confirmation of cancellation through your SMS.

Important Aspects

  • Online appointment bookings for MVPI became mandatory from May 1, 2023. – Saudi Gazette
  • Appointments are available at a rate of 50 percent of the available tracks of MVPI stations across all regions of the Kingdom.
  • Please note that if any defects are found, your vehicle will not pass the inspection and must be repaired before it can be re-inspected.
