Recently, my family’s multiple entry visit visas were nearing expiration.

A week before expiry, I received a text message from Absher when 7 days were left “مكفولكم برقم الحدود 0886*** بقي على انتهاء تأشيرة زيارة سبعة أيام فقط”, which translates as “Only seven days remain until your visit visa expires”.

I needed to extend their visas while staying at home, but information which was available online was not appropriate, half-way and no-proper guidance at all.

After much research, I discovered Absher’s Tawasul service, which allows online extension of family visit visas for the first time!

But How to Extend Multiple Family Visit Visa Through Tawasul (Absher’s Service)?

With everything I learned, I’m about to share a step-by-step guide to extend multiple family visit visa through Tawasul, without the need for exit-re-entry.

And trust me this information, is not available anywhere.

Multiple Family Visit Visa Extension Scenario Explained

This scenario explains how to extend a one-year multiple entry family visit visa:

First Entry & 90-Day Stay

After you arrive in Saudi Arabia, from the date of entry stamp, you have 90 days to explore the Kingdom.

For example, if you arrive on January 1st, 2024, your visa expires on April 1st.

First Extension Through Tawasul

Around seven days before the 90-day stay ends, you receive an SMS from Jawazat.

Now, you can request a three-month extension through Absher’s Tawasul using this guide, extending your stay within the Kingdom to June 29th, 2024.

Second Extension (Exit & Re-entry)

Before the first extension ends, another reminder SMS arrives.

However, this time, you must exit and re-enter the Kingdom, usually through Bahrain, to extend the visa further.

After re-entry on June 28th, you get another 90 days, expiring on September 25th, 2024.

Third Extension Through Tawasul

Similar to the first extension, you can request a three-month extension through Absher Tawasul before the second extension ends, pushing your visa expiry to December 23rd, 2024.

This completes your stay for a full year (360 days).

Final Extension (Exit & Re-entry)

Remember, for the final extension, the expiry date on your actual A4 visa document matters.

Visit the nearest border before expiry to re-enter and get another 90 days.

This time, don’t wait for SMS reminder, do exit-re-entry before the message.

How to Extend Multiple Family Visit Visa Through Tawasul (Absher’s Service)

Here’s I’m step-by-step guide which I used to extend multiple family visit visa through Tawasul.

Step 1: Absher Error & Screenshot

1. Login to Absher (web portal) and verify OTP.

2. Go to “Electronic Services” > “Family Members” > “Extend Visit Visa“.

3. Click “Continue”.

4. Select “Eligible for Extension” from the three options.

5. Choose your visitor’s visa and click “Extend Visa“.
   1. Note: Visa with duration less than 7 days from expiry date and visa if expired not exceeding three days including the visa expiration date are eligible for extension otherwise, you’ll receive an error saying “You don’t have any visitor under your sponsorship.” Like below:

6. You’ll receive an error stating “Multiple Visit Visa cannot be extended.” Take a screenshot of it (Like below, showing details).

Step 2: Purchase Visit Visa Extension Insurance

The second step is to buy an insurance to extend multiple family visit visa through Tawasul, usually it’s only under 25SAR.

Depending on your visitor’s situation, medical history or pregnancy.

In my case, I used Aljazira Takaful Visit Visa Extension insurance and sharing the steps below with images.

You can buy whatever is suitable for you as there are a lot of options available in the Market.

1. Head to AlJazira Takaful Visit Visa Extension Insurance.
2. Enter your visitor’s passport number, visa number, your Iqama number, border number, mobile number, and extension period (3 months).
3. Agree to the terms and proceed.

4. Fill in any additional information (mostly, it’s fetched already).

4. On the next page, select the options if you have any of these or leave it as it is and click “Next”.

6. Finally, pay the fees. For me, it was 22.37 SAR each.
7. On the following page, Download the policy and screenshot the first page. Also, a confirmation SMS will be sent to you.

Step 3: Pay Visit Visa Extension Fees

1. Pay 100 SAR per family member through your online banking (e.g., I’m using SNB AlAhli).
2. Go to “Menu” > “Sadad” > “Government Payments” in the SNB AlAhli app.

3. Select “Residents Services” for Biller, “Extend Visitor Visa” for Service, and “Unregistered” for Beneficiary.
4. Enter the border number and confirm details.

5. Enter OTP which you recieved through SMS, to pay.

6. Download the receipt and screenshot the first page.

Step 4: Create a PDF File

1. Open Microsoft Word and use the provided template, I crafted (adjust for multiple visitors):

Subject: Request for Multiple Visit Visa Extension – [Name of the Visitors]

Dear Tawasul Visa Service,

I am writing to kindly request your assistance in extending the multiple visit visas for my [your relation], [Name of the Visitor], and [your relation], [Name of the Visitor]. I am unfortunately unable to process the extension through Absher, and I would greatly appreciate your expertise in securing the necessary extension before their current visas expire on [Visit Visa Expiry Date From Absher].

Visa Details:

[Name of the Visitor 1]:

• Passport Number: [Enter Passport Number Here]
• Visa Number: [Enter Visa Number Here]
• Border Number: [Enter Border Number Here]

• [Name of the Visitor 2]:
  • Passport Number: [Enter Passport Number Here]
  • Visa Number: [Enter Visa Number Here]
  • Border Number: [Enter Border Number Here]

Supporting Documents:

I have attached the following documents for your reference:

• Absher error screenshot showcasing the inability to extend online
• Passports of [Name of the Visitors] and [Name of the Visitors]
• Payment Receipt for Visit Visa Extension Fees
• Valid medical insurance details for [Name of the Visitors], [Name of the Visitors]

We would be incredibly grateful if you could accept this request, as their departure at this time would cause significant inconvenience and disrupt planned family commitments.

2. Now, attach all screenshots and documents mentioned above.
3. Now, click “File” > “Export” > “Export to PDF/XPS” and save the file (under 1MB).

Step 5: Send Request to Absher Tawasul

1. Login to Absher > “My Services” > “Passports” > “Tawasul” > “New Request“.

2. Select “Visit Visas” for Sector and “Extend Visit Visa for Family Members” for Service.
3. Add details for each member: Name, Visa Number, Border Number, Passport Number.
4. Attach the created PDF file.
5. Click “Submit Request” and confirm.

Confirmation, Rejection and Processing:

• You will receive an SMS confirmation from Absher.

• Processing takes 2-4 working days.
  • In my case, I submitted request on Thursday to extend multiple visit visa through Tawasul and it Extended on Sunday.
• You’ll receive an SMS from Absher upon approval.

• Check Absher to confirm the extended visa validity after receiving the approval SMS.
• In case of Rejection, submit the request again.
